Artisan Pens

The Mejiro Mini. Full metal click pen, billet titanium clip standard. Comes with Pilot G2 Mini refill. German knock mechanism.

Introducing the Mejiro Mini. Starting simple and keeping the design as clean as possible, the Mejiro mini uses the Pilot G2 mini refill, a pen and refill I enjoy using quite a bit myself. Boring the thru hole with good concentricity on both ends is also challenging, so I figured I'd start simple, start short. About 80% of what I machine is titanium so given I've accumulated so much experience it seemed a no brainer to make a billet titanium clip standard on all Meijiro pens. Extremely corrosion resistant, very strong, pretty decently hard (resist dents and scratches) what more could you ask from this wonder material! Included is the Schmidt SKM 88, an all metal German made knock (clicking mechanism). I've been using it since 2013. Reliable and great value.

Features: What makes this pen so great?

  • Fully machined construction: All metal construction means it's durable

  • Semi narrow body. It's easy to design a pen around 1/2" in diameter. But those are hard to hold. These are semi narrow at 0.39" making it a nice medium comfortable diameter.

  • Billet titanium clip: This is about as strong and corrosion resistant as it gets. Tested to 25 lbf pull load. Not to mention the elegant curved design. It's more work to machine and finish, but it the look achieved is worth it.

  • Unique pocketed clip to pen interface resulting in more thread engagement. The clip will bend and fail long before the bolts will strip out due to this design. This means a stronger clip interface design. The clip is also easily replaceable in the event it is bent irreparably.

  • Thicker nose tip. If you look closely, the tip of the pen is a bit fatter than some other pens. This is because if you drop other machined pens the bore tends to cave in and snags the tip of the refill. To address this the nose is a bit fatter making it more resistant to denting from being dropped.

  • Tight tolerance tip. Some pens have a lot of wiggle in the tip which if you pay attention to details, can be a bit annoying when writing because not only does it feel loose, it makes it just slightly harder to control the direction of the pen.

  • All metal German made SKM 88 knock (click mechanism). This mechanism has been around for over a decade and I've used it in many of my earlier pens. It's quiet, smooth, and reliable.

  • Pilot G2 mini refill included. One of my favorite refills, it just works and is inexpensive.

  • Torx clip bolts. Only the best, especially for small bolts. The bolts that retain the clip are 4-40 torx. When bolts get that small it's easy to strip the driving interface. Torx is a bit more expensive, but the way to go. These come standard with torx stainless steel bolts.

  • Robust and human friendly materials. No one felt better holding something made of lead. Aluminum is a nice all around safe material. Copper is naturally anti microbial. And the brass used is lead free.
